Volunteering Opportunities

We have a range of volunteering opportunities available at the different projects Growing21 deliver. Becoming a volunteer will offer you the opportunity to help us tackle some of society’s most complex issues, and create sustainable social change for our local community.

We turn local knowledge and energy into action and progress, building stronger communities and a better future for all.

Additionally, you will have access to a range of training opportunities to offer you the chance to gain new skills.  Some of our volunteers recently completed the Activate Programme delivered by the University of Glasgow.

Benefits of Volunteering

Volunteering enriches the volunteer through new friendships, increased self-knowledge, insight into others, and making a positive difference for the local community. For some, it can be a catalyst to move positively forward into a new career, and it is a great way to gain skills and make a lasting impact in the community!

Volunteering helps provide a sense of purpose and allows people to feel fulfilled. Additionally, volunteering often gives someone a reason to get out of bed in the morning. Volunteering can help to reduce stress, reduce social isolation and helps improve wellbeing.

Volunteering provides some of the following benefits:

  • Learn new skills

  • Meet new friends

  • Share skills and knowledge

  • Improve employability prospects and gain valuable work experience

  • Help to improve and strengthen your community

  • Promote personal growth and self-esteem

  • Give something back: Many people like to support community resources that they use themselves or that benefit people they care about.
